About this calculator
Under net billing, your DISCO counts units you take from the grid and units you send to it separately. Imports are charged at your normal tariff, and exports are paid at a much lower export rate.
This calculator splits your solar into units used at home and units exported, then works out your new bill.
How it works
- Solar units a month are kW × sun hours × 0.78 × the average days in a month.
- Units used at home are the share you choose, never more than you consume. The rest are exported.
- New bill = units bought from the grid × your tariff − units exported × the export rate.
Common questions
- What is the difference between net metering and net billing?
- Net metering swapped exported units one for one against units you bought. Net billing pays exported units at a separate, lower export rate while you still pay full price for units you buy.
- Does net billing apply to me if I already have net metering?
- Agreements signed before 9 February 2026 are reported to keep their terms until they expire. New connections and renewals move to net billing.
- Why is my real bill higher than this?
- Bills add fixed charges, taxes and surcharges that do not depend on units, and your tariff can change by slab and month.
An estimate only. Your DISCO's bill is final.
