How it works

Daily units you need are your monthly units divided by the average days in a month, times the share you want to cover.
Each kW of panels makes about peak sun hours × 0.78 units a day once losses are counted.
Panels are rounded up to a whole number, and system size is panels × panel watts.
Roof space allows about 28 sq ft per panel plus a quarter more for spacing and walkways.
